Sculpture of the Month - Hit the High Note!

Cyril and his cello, Clemmy, are inseparable!
In order to avoid any damage whatsoever, to his prized possession, he only accepts invitations to recitals where he can drive, bus or train too, with his Clemmy right by his side.
Last year, he was invited to Lithuania, after 4 days of travel, he arrived for his performance, tired, grumpy and a little disheveled, he even left one shoe on the train, however, Clemmy was safe.
He also fond of collecting driftwood, running his FREE local Parkrun at Little Stoke Park near Bristol and making a perfect Mary Berry Victoria Sandwich, not to be mistaken with the Victoria Sponge!

Go past THE MAGICAL bus stop on your right...

THE bus stop! THE FOWEY bus stop! THE MAGICAL FOWEY bus stop. It is simply marvelous.
Whenever I see THAT bus stop, I think... "Ahhhhhhhh HOME".
It is right at the beginning of the town and it visually yells "Welcome to quaint, friendly, charming, amazing, glorious Fowey".
I am positive that other towns, village and cities, have someone in their neighbourhood that paints their bus stops and even changes their theme each year, however, ours is pretty special.
We have a person, I have no idea who this person is, and they do a fabulous job adding cushions, magazines and even fresh flowers.
Last year we had the adorable Winnie the Pooh with Piglet, they were so cute. Each time we walked, ran or drove past, it would bring a smile to our lips.
Bus stop person, whoever you are, you are a star!

Sculpture of the Month - Next stop, Cornwall !

Beth Kittow loves Colin. They have known each other for 19 years, they do EVERYTHING together. They enjoy Ikebana classes, spin bike classes and even go to their pedicure appointments together! And naturally Besty, their miniature Jack Russell, comes along as well.
They also relish many old fashion traditions: they are passionate about typewriters, they dress in their finest each Sunday for lunch and they adore their vespa with the sidecar.
Today they are driving down to the picturesque, beautiful town of Fowey. They have filled the coffee flask, strapped in Besty and off they have gone. Next stop, Cornwall.

Painting of the Month - George Best!

This is George Best, born 1946 and lived the next 59 years to the FULLEST!
He is renowned for his football prowess, however, he is also remembered for his love of women, alcohol, his jet set lifestyle, and his infamous quotes... here are just a few:
"In 1969 I gave up women and alcohol - it was the worst 20 minutes of my life."
"I used to go missing a lot... Miss Canada, Miss United Kingdom, Miss World."
On David Beckham:
"He cannot kick with his left foot, he cannot head a ball, he cannot tackle and he doesn't score many goals. Apart from that he's all right."
On being named Footballer of the Century in 1999
“It's a pleasure to be standing here. It's a pleasure to be standing up."
On being sent to prison for drink driving in 1984:
"Well, I suppose that's the knighthood f****d.'"
and
our favourite...
"I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered."

Sculpture of the Month - Here I Come !

Cristiano likes nothing more than seeing the snow fall... all night! That means, next morning, bright and early, he gobbles down his warm porridge with lashings of maple syrup, puts on his lucky woollen hat and off he rushes.
His life long passion of cross country skiing has never diminished, in fact, it has intensified. He dreams of running "Cristiano's Cross Country Ski Academy", his uniforms will be pink and baby blue, they will be free wifi in the chalet and and his logo will be an Otter, Cristiano thinks otters are adorable and need more respect.
So if you hear a voice, in the far distance, calling out "Here I come!", that will be Cristiano, he is in heaven.

Painting of the Month - Man Eating Sharks

Monty loves the water.

He is a member of the Newquay Volunteer Life Guard Association, he adores Ester Williams and he collects vintage bathing caps.
Yes siree, he is addicted to all things wet!
He is also a pescatarian, he has tried it all... His does not have a preference to how his fish and shellfish is prepared for him - raw, grilled, pan fried, deep fried, sauteed, poached, roasted, BBQ'ed, even microwaved, he just loves seafood.

So when you think of Man Eating Sharks, do not think of the large beautiful fish, but think of Monty, and his veracious appetite.

Parkruns are the best!

Fowey is such a friendly place, that we often find ourselves socialising most nights of the week. Dino feared all this hobnobbing could affect his waistline and he would not cut such a fine figure in his speedos this summer. We needed to burn off all those excess calories... Parkrun was the answer.
Most Saturday mornings, regardless of the weather, we drive out to the most beautiful of settings, the Lanhydrock Estate and run our local Parkrun. It is a 5 km run, that is held all over the UK, at 9am, sharp!
We are lucky enough to run through the spectacular grounds of the national trust house, it is a magnificent late Victorian country home, with over 890 acres of wooded land.
We also just happen to have, the BESTEST Parkrun Team EVER! The organizers are ALL so chirpy and happy and positive, and just a delight to be around.
There is my Dino, on the far left, speeding for speedos!
Once you start running each Saturday, you cannot stop. We are always keen to better our time, from the previous week, it is quite difficult, however when a PB is attained (that is, a Personal Best for all you novices ) you feel just so "special" for rest of the weekend.
Maybe we will see you there.

All good things must end
