Sculpture of the Month - Jump... Jump!!

This is Giorgio, he works for Cornwall Council as a librarian, however, he also has a part time job in a circus. 

Giorgio loves collecting antique nautical charts, his favourite drink is champagne and he has 14 pet cats.

He has tried and tried to get into the film industry, wanting his pets to be stars. At the moment he is busy training Ginger, she is supposingly the brightest one in the bunch. But he is having a little trouble getting her to jump. Today she is particularly stubborn, grumpy and definitely not co-operating

The whip is just a tactic, Giorgio would never hit Ginger. He just keeps on saying "Jump, Jump!". Will she jump?

Painting of the Month - Fowey River Mussels with Leeks and Cider

Here is the super duper chef, Carlo, cooking up one his favourite dishes...

Nothing beats a steaming pot of mussels, freshly fished out of the lovely Fowey estuary, all plump and juicy, with some seasonally grown leeks and Cornish cider.

So why not try Fowey River Mussels with Leeks and Cider, the recipe on the painting is a great one. 

What can I say, it is scrumptious!

The Cornish Cow, friend or foe?

I always thought that the humble, placid, gentle cow was our friend. She would go about her daily duty quite diligently, and as long as she had some grass, an open field, and some other cows with her, she would be a very happy camper. I have been told that this is NOT the case. 

The coastal walks around these areas are particularly dramatic and remarkable, extremely wondrous, enjoyable and rewarding. We have walked most of them and have even attempted a few coastal runs, very challenging indeed, poor Dino ends up pushing me up most of hills... the down bit is easy enough

We particularly love the walk from St Catherine's Castle to Polkerris Beach, and upon arrival, we then treat ourselves to a cool G & T at the Rashleigh. AHHHHHH, heaven. Along this path, you will find, Polridmouth (pronounced PRIDMOTH, go figure), a lovely sight to behold, and so too is the view from Gribbin Head (a day mark-painted red and white). The Hall Walk is also really gorgeous.

There are loads of chirpy birds, have seen an eagle thingy, a few field mice, and plenty of lovely cows. The cows seem so sweet, content, and quite docile, I would even like to go up to them and give them a big hug. But, no, I am told. Cows are very dangerous. Did you know this? Cows can be dangerous! They have been known to maim and even kill walkers. A cow! Not a bull… A cow! 

Check this statistic out - Health and Safety Executive figures show that over 481 people have been injured by cows in the past eight years. One farmer has told me to carry a plastic plumbers tube, his words "Give 'em a good whack on the nose if they get too close!"... Really, I am NOT going to do that! 

Dino and I will continue to go for our leisurely walks, but what we will do is be alert, very alert. Watch your back!
