What to Drive?

One of our primary desires was to live the British Dream… "What is this British Dream that you speak of?" Well, one of the elements to living the dream, is the right car.

After 20 years of living on a island, without a vehicle, our mode of transport would be very important. Was it to be an Austin Martin, a MG, a Bentley, a Rolls Royce, a Range Rover, no, no, no... all those cars are simply wonderful, however for us (against all sensible recommendations, sorry Uncle Bobby) it had to be the classic old Jaguar XJ, in British Racing Green, automatic, 4 door, with leather interiors, wood trim and NATURALLY, a little shiny, silver, sleek cat leaping on the bonnet. Now that, is very British indeed!
so majestic!

The husband and I notice that we do get a few glances, and that we see people smiling and commenting, we would like to believe that they are admiring our bravery in purchasing such a phenomenal car. Or do they see us as suckers, destined to perpetual visits to our mechanic?

Don't get me wrong, she does have a few shortcomings… she loves to drink, she can be a little erratic when it comes to her locking system (I cannot seem to work out the alarm system, who even knew she had one!) she steams up ever so easily and she takes FOREVER to un-steam. We do not care, we love her. The dream has started ever so nicely.
too sleek!
